Take the irritation out of the Meditation.
Jesus’ one hour request is both an invitation to share his burden and a teaching moment about prayerful vigilance. Jesus models dependence on the Father and invites others into that dependence; the disciples’ sleep exposes human frailty and the need for disciplined prayer.
Companionship — someone to share his burden and not leave him alone.
Prayerful vigilance — spiritual alertness rather than sleep or distraction.
Mutual support — disciples who will pray so they won’t fall into temptation.
A witness to his struggle — an affirmation that his pain and obedience are seen and honored.
A teaching moment — to show that prayer, not self‑reliance, is the way through trial.
